Lara Croft Tributes and Cameos

Outside of her starring roles, Lara reached a pop culture status so huge she’s made cameos in a variety of other entertainment franchises, including twin appearances in King of the Hill and a cheeky comment in Warehouse 13. Quite frequently female archaeologists and adventurers are depicted as British, wearing shorts, a tank, tall boots, and a braid, highlighting just how much Lara’s look has permeated pop culture.

Although brief, it’s only fitting that the ladies who inspired the Girl Power movement would play Tomb Raider in their Union Jack-clad tour bus. A brief clip of the original game can be seen as the Spice Girls show two contest winners around town.
A 1999 episode of this popular Spanish youth television series featured official model Lara Weller as Lara Croft in the flesh. Her appearance corresponded with the promotion of The Last Revelation. Including actual sound bites and music from the game, the story unfolded with thugs after Lara for an important artifact in her possession, and a young teen on a date who got mixed up in the unlucky business.
In 2002 Calista Flockhart briefly imagined herself in Lara Croft apparel, armed and dangerous with twin Uzis. The flight of fancy stemmed from annoyance at her young daughter’s behavior.
WWE Diva Mickie James took on Lara’s persona in this Cyber Sunday special, performing as the Tomb Raider star and entering the ring in character. She took the top spot in the costume contest for her efforts.
Lola Bunny explored an ancient site in classic Croft gear, sans the pistols to keep it kid-friendly. She twisted her long ears back into Lara’s trademark braid, showed off her gymnastic abilities, and evaded animated skeletons, in hopes of finding an ancient relic as the perfect anniversary gift for Bugs Bunny.
Lara Croft starred heavily in one episode of this stop-motion parody of pop culture, wearing out her welcome in a tomb rather quickly.
Cobie Smulders channeled Angelina Jolie in an attempt to impress romantic interest Barney, dressing up as the raider for a game of laser tag.
Delivered with an overt tone of sarcasm, Ralph identifies himself as “Lara Croft” when stopped and asked for identification by a hard working surge protector in Game Central Station.
