Tomb Raider: Legend - The Unknown Entity

Aug 2, 2024

The Unknown Entity, also known as Amanda’s Pet or Fluffy (the nickname given by the Tomb Raider community), is an unexplained malevolent entity of unknown origin. Lara Croft first encountered it in a subterranean Pre-Incan ruin outside of Paraíso, Peru, where it brutally killed most of Lara’s colleagues, except for Amanda Evert.

In a desperate attempt to save Lara and herself from the beast's fury, Amanda ripped the Wraith Stone from its place on the wall, unwittingly confining the Entity inside. The tomb began to collapse, triggering a flood from a nearby river that surged into the chamber. Lara managed to escape; however, Amanda wasn’t so lucky.

Years later, Lara uncovered that Amanda had survived the tragic event and escaped the flooded chamber. Amanda learned how to control the Unknown Entity. She tamed it, made it her own, and it saved her life once she mastered it.

After reforging Excalibur, Lara returned to Bolivia and the Stone Dais. Amanda was already there waiting for her, and she merged with the Entity just before their showdown. In an intense battle of Excalibur versus the Entity’s power, Lara emerged victorious. She defeated Amanda and the Entity and took the Wraith Stone, eventually locking it away in her vault at Croft Manor.

Lara meets Fluffy Again

Some time passed and Amanda commanded Lara’s Doppelgänger to retrieve the Wraith Stone from the vault, blowing up Croft Manor and killing Alister in the process.

Amanda wears the Wraith Stone as a pendant on her necklace, enabling her to unleash the Entity at will. The stone also grants abilities such as generating energy blasts and creating kinetic fields. However, the stone's powers have limitations. Intense and continuous usage temporarily depletes its energy, requiring a period of time to recharge.
