Wisdom Wednesday: Tomb Raider: Legend and Anniversary Gyms
Jul 17, 2024
The Croft Manor gym returns in both Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Anniversary, ensuring players have the opportunity to master Lara Croft’s new moves in a safe environment before starting the main adventure.
Both gyms feature obstacle courses that hold some of the rewards/secrets that can be found within the Croft Manor grounds. In Tomb Raider: Legend, these hidden items are known as 'Rewards' and come in three varieties: Bronze, Silver, and Gold Crests. In Tomb Raider: Anniversary, the hidden items are called 'Secrets' and take the form of silver elephants.
The obstacle courses feature interactive scenery that, once activated, enables new routes which were previously inaccessible. In Tomb Raider: Legend, Lara uses her magnetic grapple to manipulate the position of objects like ladders and poles. In Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Lara needs to reach and push buttons to position objects that she can use to progress further. Both gyms feature a swimming pool; however, if Lara wants to swim in Anniversary, the pool must be filled manually
Despite Tomb Raider: Anniversary being released after Tomb Raider: Legend, its gym obstacle course is somewhat less extensive. This is because, chronologically, Legend takes place after Anniversary, giving Lara time to expand the obstacle course to better suit her training needs.
Tomb Raider: Legend, originally released for the PlayStation 2, is available on the PlayStation Store.
