Today marks the 28th anniversary of Tomb Raider’s original release in 1996! Few could have predicted how far Lara Croft would come from then to now, and we’re so proud of everything Lara has accomplished with the support of her community of fans around the world.

To celebrate, we have a few exciting announcements and highlights to share with you on Tomb Raider’s anniversary.

TOMB RAIDER: The Legend of Lara Croft Continues

TOMB RAIDER: The Legend of Lara Croft debuted on Netflix earlier this month, and the buzz has been overwhelming. Collider called the series a “satisfying and emotional adventure,” while CBR declared it “a fabulous artifact to add to Lara's collection.” And we’re thrilled to announce that Season 2 is confirmed!

Here’s a preview of what the next season has in store:

When adventurer Lara Croft discovers a trail of stolen African Orisha masks, she joins forces with her best friend Sam to retrieve the precious artifacts. Lara's thrilling new adventure takes her around the globe as she delves deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha history, dodges the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself, while discovering these relics contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. Power that may, in fact, be divine.

TR28 - Tomb Raider Day Recap

TR28, the fourth annual unofficial Tomb Raider fan event, took place earlier this month in Derby, England, and was another smashing success! To kick the day off, two exclusive Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered screenshots were unveiled by annual event organizer Luke Earle, followed by a panel with Alison Carroll, the official Lara Croft model for Tomb Raider: Underworld, who shared her experiences embodying such an iconic character.

After the first panel, composer Peter Connelly delivered a live performance of his famous track "Jeep Thrills" from Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, accompanied by Michael Edwards on guitar. Later, Raidercast interviewed Jonell Elliott, the voice of Lara Croft for Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness, and surprise guest Judith Gibbins, who voiced Lara in Tomb Raider II and III.

The next panel featured a fascinating deep dive into the archaeology of Tomb Raider, presented by Christopher Lowman, who explored what the classic games got right about archaeology, along with a few imaginative liberties they took along the way. In the final panel, games journalist and “The Making of Tomb Raider” author Daryl Baxter interviewed developers from Core Design about their work on Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. Andy Sandham (story, script, and level designer), Peter Barnard (FMV sequences), and Tom Scutt (AI programmer) reflected on the long hours spent developing the game, and the challenge of incorporating Lara's mentor, Werner Von Croy, into the gameplay.

What an amazing way for Tomb Raider fans to come together to share their passion and love for the franchise!

More Tomb Raider TUBBZ Collectibles on the Way

Two new Tomb Raider TUBBZ collectibles are now available for pre-order! First up is Survivor Lara Croft, which takes center stage as the second cosplaying rubber duck in the exciting Tomb Raider TUBBZ series, following the release of Classic Lara Croft TUBBZ last year.

Embodying Lara’s spirit of adventure, the First Edition Survivor Lara Croft is poised for action and will make a striking addition to any collection.

TUBBZ takes iconic characters from the worlds of games and movies and turns them into stunning, quirky, skillfully designed rubber ducky replicas for fans to collect. First Edition TUBBZ are only released once. Survivor Lara Croft comes in a handy display bathtub featuring the Tomb Raider logo.
