Tomb Raider Lore - The Iris
Oct 24, 2024
Have you ever wondered about the mysterious, floating artifact that Lara Croft kept in her secret trophy room in Tomb Raider III: The Adventures of Lara Croft? This artifact, known as the Iris, foreshadows the events players would encounter in the subsequent game, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation.
In the opening level of The Last Revelation, a young Lara teams up with her mentor, Werner Von Croy, for an expedition in Angkor Wat. After navigating a series of challenges, Von Croy proposes a race to reach the Iris. The outcome can vary, with either Lara or Werner crossing the finish line first, but ultimately, the result remains the same: Von Croy disregards ancient warnings and becomes trapped, while Lara narrowly escapes.
Tomb Raider: Chronicles depicts the story of how Lara came into possession of the Iris. Years after her adventure in Cambodia, Lara discovers that Von Croy has the Iris locked away at Von Croy Industries. She soon realizes that the artifact has teleportation properties, using it to escape. Lara outwits the VCI security and makes off with the Iris.
