Conrad Roth

The Endurance’s captain, Conrad Roth was a close friend of Lara’s parents, so dear that he was trusted with raising her after their deaths. An explorer and adventurer himself, Roth’s guidance and wisdom were key parts of making a young Lara who she grew up to become.

Lara’s first adventure was aboard the Endurance, serving on Roth’s crew as part of James Whitman’s expedition to find the lost island of Yamatai… but that discovery came at a terrible price.

Samantha Nishimura

Lara’s best friend since university, Samantha (Sam) Nishimura was someone who could bring Lara out of her shell to enjoy life as a young woman.

Sam worked as the Endurance’s camera person, but her family’s wealth also funded the expedition. Sam discovers a different kind of family connection on Yamatai, learning that she’s a descendant of the fabled Queen Himiko…and that her ancestor still cursed the island in undeath.
