Wisdom Wednesday: Dragon's Triangle
Jul 31, 2024
The Dragon's Triangle, also known as the Devil's Sea, is a mysterious and perilous area of the Pacific Ocean located south of Tokyo, Japan. This region is the setting for the events of Lara Croft’s adventure in Tomb Raider (2013). It is here that a young and inexperienced Lara Croft finds herself shipwrecked on the mystical island of Yamatai. The island, isolated from the outside world by supernatural storms conjured by the shaman-queen Himiko, is heavily inspired by the folklore surrounding the Dragon’s Triangle.
The Dragon's Triangle has long been a subject of superstition, fueled by mid-twentieth century tales of disappearing ships and their crews. Despite the debunking of many urban legends, the area's reputation persists.
